Unimportant things
Bush praising Rumsfeld:
"I know Secretary Rumsfeld’s heart ... He’s a good, decent man. He’s a caring fellow,"
Excuse me if I'm a bit blunt, but I don't give a fuck if Rumsfeld charges headfirst into burning buildings to save a box full of kittens. What I care about is how he has managed things at the Department of Defense, and in particular, in Iraq. And it's fairly clear that he has done an abysmal job. He didn't send in enough troops, left soldiers without adequate armor, and created a situation wherein American troops are responsible for almost all security responsibilites (e.g. disbanded the Iraqi army) all based on the long since disproven notion that Iraqis would shower American troops in flowers and donuts in gratitude for their liberation from Saddam Hussein.
I supported, and still support, the invasion of Iraq, but that's not a reason to ignore incompetence on the part of people responsible for prosecuting it. Rumsfeld IS incompetent, and it reflects VERY badly on the commander in chief to continue to back an incompetent underling.
