Interesting Points
This article talks about mistakes America has made in Iraq (among other things). It's interesting and worth reading.
Britain has been more successful at keeping a lid on things in Basra. It does appear that their softer approach has resulted in less violence. You see a lot of pictures of British troops on Sky News (understandably, as its targeted at a British audience), and they don't seem quite the armored human tanks that American troops look like. Then again, Basra IS an all Shiite town that was happier to see the back of Saddam Hussein than Fallujah, or even parts of Baghdad. Still, it seems the British have worked harder to make local alliances.
